Resource Conflicts

EventPro Planner can check for resource conflicts within an event or across multiple events. In order to check for conflicts across multiple events, you need the Master Inventory module. If you are interested in previewing or purchasing the Master Inventory module, contact the nearest EventPro Planner Sales Department.
How EventPro Planner checks for resource conflicts depends on how you set up the item, i.e. whether you chose to Use Master Inventory or Quantity Checking. Review the differences below.
Use Master Inventory
Remember that when you set up your resource inventory in Chapter 2: Setting Up EventPro Planner, Step 10: Resources, and added the item to an event's Event Setup in Chapter 5: Set Up an Event, Organization Setup: Resources, Add Resource Categories and Items, you could choose to Use Master Inventory for that item. You also selected one of two different "Usage Types", which determines how EventPro Planner will check for conflicts: Entire Event or Time Only.
| • | Entire Event: EventPro Planner assumes that you require the item for the entire event, regardless of the specific times that the item is actually in use. If you have only one item, and add this item to an Event Setup for one event, and attempt to add it to the Event Setup for another event that occurs at the same time, you will get a Resource Conflicts dialog. This is because EventPro Planner assumes that you need one item for the first event, and another item for the second event. |

| • | Time Only: EventPro Planner will only check for conflicting use within the times that the item is scheduled for use. Even if you only have one item in your master inventory, you could potentially use the item in several events on the same day, as long as it is scheduled at different times. However, if you try to use the item for two different functions at the same time, you will get a Resource Conflicts dialog. |

Quantity Checking
If you only use Quantity Checking for a resource item (not the Master Inventory), EventPro Planner will only check for resource conflicts within the event. When you added the resource to Event Setup in Chapter 5: Set Up an Event, Organization Setup: Resources, Add Resource Categories and Items, you would have entered the Quantity of items available for the item. As you scheduled the items for use in functions, EventPro Planner would check the items against that quantity to ensure you had a sufficient amount. If you attempt to use more items than you have in the event inventory, you will get a Resource Conflicts dialog.

Resolving Conflicts
If you want to ignore the resource conflicts, and leave the quantities as they have been entered, click the Accept Current Quantity button. Note that you will still need to do something to resolve the resource conflict, such as change the quantities in other functions, change the times required, or increase your resource inventory so that you have enough items.
If you want to reduce the quantity of the resource required for this function so that there is no longer a conflict, click the Adjust Current Quantity To button. EventPro Planner will reduce the number of resource items assigned to this function to the number left available in the event inventory.
