User Rights define which users have the right to add, modify or delete information in EventPro Planner. Defining user rights ensures that important information is not tampered with and that only those authorized to do so can access sensitive data.  Only users with supervisor rights should be allowed access to this section of the program.

Rather than assigning rights to each individual user, you will first want to create User Right Groups. A User Right group allows you to define a standard set of rights for each category of users according to their ability to access your data.  For example, you may want to create a group called “Booking Rights”, and select the access rights you would like those staff members to have.  Perhaps you want to give them the right to Access Bookings and Create Bookings, but not to Access Invoices or Access Payments. When you later assign rights to each staff user, you can select the “Booking Rights” user right group for the correct users.  If staff members try to do something in the Invoices or Payments area, a dialog will inform them that they do not have the required rights to perform this action.

Creating user right groups will save time when later assigning rights to each user. Rather than having to individually select the access rights from the 100+ check boxes for each and every user, you can select a user right group and your pre-selected values will appear. If you make any changes to a user right group, those changes will automatically apply to all users assigned to the group.  If you want to later customize the rights for one particular user, you can do so. For example, perhaps all staff members have the same “Booking Rights”, but the Supervisor needs superior rights. You can first assign the Supervisor to the “Booking Rights” group, but then select the <Custom> User Right Group. You can now manually add additional rights for the Supervisor.

Note that the User Right Groups you create here are different than the User Groups to which you assign users when creating Users under Step 4: Users. User Right Groups are used to determine the users’ access to information in EventPro Planner. User Groups are used to categorize users for communication purposes, specifically who receives which Actions.
